It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday

How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The fake news that made us laugh
And talking smack.

I thought we'd get to see the playoffs
But we lost that hope back in May
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

I don't know where this road
Will lead other teams
All I know is what I've seen
When we've played St. Louis.

They may get to play tomorrow
But I wouldn't bet on next Thursday
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memory
That the Cards are turning old and gray
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take joy in the memory
That I can watch Randa beat them as a Padre
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

- Apologies to BoyzIIMen. And to Bellyscratcher for rooting for the Cardinals.

  1. I’m terrified. I hate 5 game series. And with the way the starters have been going, my goodness, yikes.

Get those errors out now, Nuñez.

And with that resounding whiff, Reds baseball is done for 2005. Time to start planning that 2006 spring training trip, I reckon.

    100 WINS! Wheeee!!!!!!

  6. Arugh! The first game’s at 1:00 eastern. That’s 10:00 am for me. I hate that.

    Uuummmm…. Y?

No, you’re right, the Cards do, indeed, rock. Dammit.

  8. Yep. The Cards rock. Now, please please get past the Padres.

Well, dear, it’s been a ball. Perhaps we can smack talk the Oscars or Superbowl commercials. I’ll be watching the Reds’ offseason moves much more closely this year. And then I’ll make up disparaging nicknames for all their new players. If’n ya wanna do the postseason, lemme know, but I’ll be chewing off my fingernails every pitch.

Oh, I’ll probably pop in from time to time to say something derrogatory about Edmonds. But then, that’s ALWAYS true.

Good luck. Hope your fellas can get it done this year, because next year, they’re going DOWN.
