Blog Buzz

Jacci at We Heart the Reds thinks Little Albie is a jerk. Hard to argue with that kind of reasoning.

Shawn at Cincinnati Reds Blog made me laugh with his description of Harang's 1-0 win.

j.p. at Reds (and Blues) has a top ten list of things he thought more likely than a 1-0 win against the Cards.

JD at Red Reporter has some deep thoughts about removing black from the uniforms in favor of navy blue. I don't know why people hate black. It's very slimming.

Matt at The Red Letters is excited overall but doesn't approve of Austin Kearns' plate discipline. I thought Kearns handled a few high pressure spots in this series very well. It's possible that he's striking out on strikes.

Bill at Redleg Nation saves me the effort of reading the Enquirer by linking to a story about Dunn and Griffey ranking low in defense according to a new book. I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked!

Marc Lancaster reports that LaRue is being sent to Louisville after already putting in three games in Sarasota plus one extended spring training appearnce. Honestly, what's the deal? Is LaRue slow to get back into things, or are they jerking him around?

JinAZ wrote about Scott Hatteberg without me. I know I said it was OK, but I guess I just didn't expect it to hurt like this.

Daedalus provides a few really disturbing photoshops. Yikes.

The Big Red Mechanic goes on the first big rant I've read of the year. It took all the way until the tenth game. This could be quite a year

about LaRue – they realize carrying three catchers, esp. when your two from last year were so productive, is illogical, so they are procrastinating on a decision. rumor is that san diego is regretting getting rid of Ross because Piazza just isn’t cutting it as a catcher. I say the Reds trade him back for Trevor Hoffman or Jake Peavy! 😉

If I were LaRue and the team sentenced me to minor league rehab so they didn’t have to risk sending Ross through waivers, I’d be pretty irritated. I mean, Louisville is nice and all, but damn.

Watch how fast they get LaRue activated now that Griffey’s on the DL, opening a roster spot.

The biggest problem with Griffey going on the DL isn’t having Griffey out of the lineup, it’s that this will get LaRue back in the lineup. Or to be more precise, behind the plate. Watch how fast the Reds’ staff ERA skyrockets with LaRue behind the plate. I’ll bet it goes up by close to a run a game.

After Johnny Bench played in Cinci for so many years, you’d think Reds fans would remember what a good catcher looks like. I do, and LaRue ain’t it. He doesn’t set a target, he doesn’t frame pitches, he has trouble keeping the ball in front of him…the Reds would be better off with Dane Sardinha out there.

Ah well, being in a pennant race was fun while it lasted.

Glad you liked the piece, RHM. I live to make you snort milk out of your nose.

  5. Red Hot Mama says:

You called it, HMZ. LaRue is back on the roster. Marc Lancaster is on WLW with Marty and confirmed that LaRue wasn’t happy to be sent to Louisville.

    Shawn, milk? It’s beer!

    Whatever floats your straw.

Beer through a straw. Now that *is* funny.
