Weathers: walking the line between confident and delusional

Am I the only one who actually laughed out loud upon seeing this headline on Reds.com?

What’s not funny is how he blames his problems on the whole team:
    It’s a dicey situation.

“I can’t give them to myself,” said Weathers, who is 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA and nine saves in 33 games this season. “To me, that’s the Catch-22. To pitch better, you have to pitch more. To pitch more, you have to pitch well enough that somebody wants you out there again.

“It’s hard to complain, because we’re a game and a half back and leading the Wild Card. We’re winning. That’s the most important thing. I’m not a trouble-maker.”

I don’t think he’s really blaming anyone for it, but I agree that particular comment probably should have been kept to himself. In fact, this whole story probably should have been kept to itself. Not a lot of people are feeling sorry for Weathers these days; best for him to just try to fly under the radar while he pulls it together.

Well, David, you could throw on the side, keep yourself in shape, that sort of thing. Those things help you perform better too.

  4. Skeeter says:

Are you still feeling confident after giving up a two-run shot to Aaron Boone (AARON BOONE!!??) in today’s game?
    I sure-as-hell am not.
