Reds Acquire Kyle Lohse for Minor League Pitcher

Again from Marc, the Reds have traded low-A starting pitcher Zach Ward to the Twins for right-handed sort-of starter Kyle Lohse.

Marc says that Lohse has been demoted to the major and sent back to the pen on his return to Minnesota. He brings with him a 2-5 record and a 7.07 ERA, so surely he's our new fifth starter.

Well, this one has me baffled. Zach Ward was 7-0 with a 2.29 ERA in 18 starts and 2 relief appearances in A-ball. Not quite Homer Bailey numbers, but he still keeps stringing together zeros on the scoreboard and was looking like he was going to develop into a bona fide major leaguer.

Trading him for Lohse…they might as well have reaquired Cory Lidle.
