Arroyo in Concert

Bronson Arroyo performs “Wonderwall” at Redsfest in December. I've never been entirely sure what a “wonderwall” is supposed to be, but in this case it seems to be what you hit two months into the season.

And the acoustic version. He must really like this song.

And here is his performing “Last Dance With Mary Jane.”

One more, this one with matching guitars!

All this is also being added to his human league profile.

Hey, he moved “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” to Cincinnati.

I read once that “Wonderwall” was supposed to be an imaginary friend. Kinda like Farney, I guess…

OK, I recognize a job for the Crack Hard Facts Staff when I see one…

Ahem…There was the 1960s movie by that name where a guy becomes obsessed with a model that lives next door to him, and drills holes in her wall (the wonderwall) to watch her. Fortunately, that’s not what the song’s about:

The above reference quotes Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, who wrote the song, as follows: “It’s a song about an imaginary friend who’s gonna come and save you from yourself.”

In that sense – in the song – a wonderwall is a metaphor for someone you can lean on for support.

Which I’m sure will be a lot less disconcerting for you to think about in the hotel room in Sarasota next spring while you’re on the way to the shower in your bathrobe and little else.

I have little desire to see Arroyo sing,
nor do I want to see Harry Connick Jr pitch either.

  4. Red Hot Mama says:

But Redsfan68, Bronson singing provides limitless opportunities for “perfect pitch” puns!
