The Right Things to Do and the Tasty Way to Do It

Griffey and oatmeal go together like apples and cinnamon
Sometimes the best part of waking up is finding a Reds-related trivia question on your packet of Apples and Cinnamon flavored instant oatmeal.

    Is that Mariners related trivia?

I’d call it both. Granted that when Griffey Sr. and Jr. played together it was in Seattle. But Sr. played and coached here, and Jr. plays here now, while Sr. is a member of the Reds’ major league operations staff as Special Consultant to the General Manager. So these two guys have been, and still are, intrinsically linked to the Reds.

Some day in September after the rosters have expanded to 40 players, perhaps on the day when they finally have Freel play all nine positions in the same game, I think it would be neat if they were to un-retire Ken Sr. for one game and give him a pinch-hit AB so that the Griffeys can appear as father and son in a Reds game.

Let them hit back-to-back just in case. 😉

That is a cool way to wake up. Even better when you wake up and remember the last thing you saw going to bed was the Reds winning 11-2 over the Astros and knowing Jr. hit another HR. 🙂

I actually saw them play together( on TV), and if I remember correctly, they both homered in the same game

Yup. Back to back. The only father-son duo ever to do that.

I saw the video online a few years ago, but I didn’t find it on YouTube just now. Pretty cool moment.
