La Russa is going sabermetrical tonight, and batting the pitcher 8th…

  2. Red Hot Mama says:

I understand that’s supposed to be better, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it work myself.

  3. Red Hot Mama says:

Ouch, Edmonds is down. He’s gotta be back, though. He’s got big money on his contract for next year.

  4. BubbaFan says:

    Did he plunk A-Gon intentionally?

  5. Red Hot Mama says:

Walked the pitcher. This outing just keeps getting worse for Reyes.

I’m glad that Bellyscratcher is getting to see this in person. 😀

  6. BubbaFan says:

    What happened to Edmonds, BTW?

  7. Red Hot Mama says:

That Pujols really is quite good, isn’t he? I wonder why no one’s ever heard of him.

  8. Red Hot Mama says:

Bellyscratcher just sent me a text message. She sends her love. I mean, her hatred for Reyes. She’s gotta be loving that damn Molina, though. 😛

  9. Red Hot Mama says:

Edmonds stayed in the game. Whatever happened to him must not have been too serious.

  10. Red Hot Mama says:

    Oh crap….oh…Dunn’s got it. Whew.

  11. BubbaFan says:

Ugh. This could end up being a battle of the bullpens. 😛

  12. Red Hot Mama says:

Hey, better pitchers than Shearn have been touched by the Cards. If the hitters can just keep it going, there’s always hope.

  13. Red Hot Mama says:

Double play! I smell an Eckstein!

  14. BubbaFan says:

Shearn seems to have settled down a bit. Nice that Mackanin gave him a chance to right himself.

  15. Red Hot Mama says:

Even as not horrible as the bullpen has been lately, I don’t reckon anyone’s eager to get to them early in the game.

So, I guess the Cubs were tired of winning: they just acquired Steve Trachsel.

  16. Red Hot Mama says:

Cooter takes the mound. Since when is he back with the team?

  17. BubbaFan says:

    Wednesday, I think.

  18. Red Hot Mama says:

Stanton’s loosening already. So, are we surrendering already? The Reds still have the lead!

  19. Red Hot Mama says:

You are a fountain of knowledge. Thanks BF.

Everyday Eddie is loosening now. Yikes. And now Javy’s letting runner advance. I don’t like the way this is going.

  20. Red Hot Mama says:

    Whew. Thanks, Agon.

  21. Red Hot Mama says:

Dang, how many runners do we need to strand, guys?

  22. BubbaFan says:

When they sent The Lizard back to Louisville, they called up Coutlangus again. Krivsky even said something shocking, along the lines of “We need good pitchers, whether they’re lefties or righties.” What a concept!

And of course, it was a great opportunity to run out the “Welcome home, Colonel Angus” jokes…

  23. Red Hot Mama says:

Ouch! Damn the dangers of the on-deck circle. Juan Encarnación is on the ground.

  24. BubbaFan says:

Holy crap. That looked really bad.

  25. Red Hot Mama says:

Majewski hits Eckstein to freaking load the freaking bases. And here comes freaking Ankiel.

    Dammit.

  26. Red Hot Mama says:

Where’s my Head in Hands emoticon??

  27. BubbaFan says:

Ugh. Kinda saw that one coming… 😛

  28. Red Hot Mama says:

Me too. Pretty much sniffed it from the time they pulled Shearn.

  29. Red Hot Mama says:

    Ryan Freaking Franklin. Gah.

Hey, remember back before the winning streak? Before this 8-of-their-last-10 stuff? That team appears to be back. Yippee for us.

  30. Red Hot Mama says:

Bellyscratcher just said that Ankiel wouldn’t come out for a curtain call after his GS. I like him a little better now.

  31. BubbaFan says:

What’s worse is listening to the Cards announcers go on and on about how Stanton can still pitch, because he never pitched in high school. Kids these days are ruining their arms, pitching too young.

News flash, guys: Stanton can’t pitch.

  32. BubbaFan says:

She lied. Ankiel came out right away to take his bow. I saw it.

The announcers rambled on forever about how quick he is to take curtain calls, and how they really like that.
