Patterson Louisville-bound

Holy crap!

By which I am referring to crappy play that Dusty Baker seemed to regard as holy, coming from Corey Patterson. Somehow, however, cooler heads have prevailed and Mr. 9-outs-in-one-game has been optioned to AAA Louisville.

Don’t believe me? Read it for yourself.

The contract of Andy Phillips has been selected to take his spot on the roster.

Yay, Andy! It’s about time. If anyone deserves a shot, it’s him.

Oh, and if you want to get to know Andy a little…there’s an interview from Bats radio here. Wherein he reveals his favorite TV show, and that his wife sometimes won’t let him watch it.

Baker still likes Patterson, though. Here’s what he had to say:

I’m not going on liking or not liking him. I like the skill. I know skill when I see skill.

That’s right. Baker thinks Patterson has “skill.” This is a prime example of why I wasn’t happy when Baker was hired. The man is clueless when it comes to good production.

The Reds send down Belisle today and reinstated Mercker.

I wasn’t expecting them to send down Belisle until at least after his next start, but they’re going with Fogg as a starter. Uh, boy.
