Live blog: Reds @ Card – Game lucky number 13

I can't sign because I used my camera too much. After that straight-up ass-whooping that the Reds received last night, they’ve got a chance to redeems themselves this afternoon. Bronson Arroyo–the guy whose wrist is so sensitive he didn’t sign autographs on the “Red Carpet” on Opening Night–takes the mound in his favorite of all situations: the bright, sunny day games.

Here’s the line-ups:
Your Cincinnati Reds

  • Cozart, SS
  • Stubbs, CF
  • Votto, 1B
  • Phillips, 2B
  • Bruce, RF
  • Ludwick, LF
  • Frazier, 3B
  • Hanigan, C
  • Arroyo, P

Those Freakin’ Cardinals

  • Furcal, SS
  • Jay, CF
  • Holliday, LF
  • Beltran, RF
  • Carpenter, M, 1B
  • Cruz, T, C
  • Descalso, 3B

Holy crap! Drew Stubbs on base in the top of the first!

    This certainly portends good things.

  2. Amanda says:

and now Stubbs is on second? What alternate universe have I slipped in to?

  3. Amanda says:

middle of the first: one hit, one left on, both of them Stubbs.

  4. Amanda says:

Wow, fell asleep for a minute there. That’s a confusing nap to wake up from!

Anyway, after three, each team has two hits but no one has any runs. Can Bronson Arroyo really be the one to shut out the Cards? That’s one question, but the bigger question is whether the offense can score even one run to support him.

  5. Amanda says:

Phillips answered that question in style! And the home run is lovely for keeping you from having to overwork an injured hammy.

  6. Amanda says:

Holy cow, Ludwick has the topper. Reds take a 3-0 lead. w00t!

  7. Amanda says:

3-run homer for the Cardinals to make it a one-run game. Weren’t they saying that Holliday didn’t have a base hit yet at the start of this game?

  8. Amanda says:

It’s remarkable how fast a “comfortable” 4-run lead can get eaten up.

  9. Amanda says:

Yay Stubbs! Way to avoid the K!

  10. Amanda says:

So glad that Joey Votto got to come to the RBI party today. It must be quite cathartic.

  11. Amanda says:

Holy crap: no one did Frazier get to play today, but now Sean Marshall is in the game? Seriously, what alternate dimension is this??

  12. Amanda says:

Here’s a headscratcher for you: why did Arroyo bat for himself in the top of the ninth if Marshall was going to pitch the bottom?

They even brought in two defensive substitutions in the bottom of the inning, so it wasn’t like they weren’t available.

    Arroyo’s a decent hitter–for a pitcher–but better than Heisey?

    Reds win! At last!

sweet site, keep up the great work amanda!
