Derek Lee Out 2-3 Months

The Cubs are scuh-ruuuuuuuuuud.

Derek Lee has broken his wrist. View from the Bleachers and GROTA both site the Chicago Tribune saying he'll be out 2-3 months. And since it's the Cubs, the time range will be more like 4 months-all of eternity.

It is a shame to hear this news. I am deeply saddened that Derrek Lee will not be able to play for the next 2 months. It makes me sad. I am sad about this and it is a shame.

    SUCK ON THAT, SUCKAS!

Scuh-ruuuud indeed. Lee’s distal radial and distal ulna bones are both busted. I’m going to guesstimate that it’ll probably be 10 weeks before the cast comes off.

I will never seriously wish injury on any player regardless of what team he’s on. But this is good news for the rest of the NL Central. With the injury problems the Cubs have already been having, I gotta seriously doubt their ability to overcome the loss of a guy of Derek Lee’s caliber for over two months. Nothing against John Mabry, but he’s no Derek Lee.

If the Cubs are still anywhere within sniffin’ distance of the wild card race by the time Lee gets back, I’ll be very surprised.
