Blog Buzz on Game 16 and Other Stuff

Reds Perspective
Jacci at We Heart the Reds says Coffey played no games in shutting down the Brewers. Hell yeah. Did you see the look on his face? Coffey's gone totally bad-ass.

Shawn at Cincinnati Reds Blog points out that after Williams was removed early from last night's game, Matt Belisle was left in too long. I'd like for that to be the biggest pitching problem we had.

In JD's link dump, he talks about Tony Womack being out soon. I hope they can find something to do with him other than just release him. It's not his fault that Dan O'Brien stupidly signed him to begin with.

Bill at Redleg Nation says the Reds released Mark Schramek, a 2002 number 1 draft pick.

Daedalus of Church of Baseball continues the super-creative Photoshopping. Poor, poor sausages.

The Big Red Mechanic admires the power of youth. There certainly is a lot to admire.

Brewers Perspective
The Brewers blogs in my sidebar didn't have anything to say about yesterday's game at the time of this writing. If you want to scroll down in the game thread on Brew Crew Ball, you can see a rather non-sassy comment from yours truly. You can also see the nice things that Bill Batterman at Brewerfan.net had to say about RHM. Even nicer than last year.

RHM pondered Tony Womack for some undetermined amount of time, then typed, “I hope they can find something to do with him other than just release him. It’s not his fault that Dan O’Brien stupidly signed him to begin with.”

That’s easy enough to do, just make him the PTBNL in the Phillips trade.

Oh my Arroyo, that is a great idea. Would they let us do that?

  3. KC2HMZ says:

I doubt that Mark Shapiro (the Indians’ GM) would hold still for such a scr…well, let’s just say, we can dream, can’t we? :-)))

We can throw in Timo Perez! Oh, it’s too late for that.

  5. KC2HMZ says:

There’s plenty of throw-in material available. White. Gosling. Burns. Hammond. The Indians always seem to end up desperate for relief pitching. Wickman is the Indians’ closer, he always seems to spend some time on the DL every year, so eventually they’ll be desperate for a relief pitcher.

As if the fact that they gave a roster slot to Danny Graves weren’t already sufficient indication of said desperation.
Yeah, that’s it, we’ll tell them, “You can have Gosling, but you have to agree to take Womack, too.”

A story in the post today said that it would definitely not be someone on the 40-man who went to the Indians. I just hope that means they’ll be taking Womack off the 40-man soon.
