Misleading Headline Disappoints Readers

This headline is the number one story on The St. Louis Cardinals’ official site, and I clicked right away hoping to read about another Tony-LaRussa-falling-asleep-in-an-intersection type extravaganza.

The stupid story didn’t even mention the beach, though, it was just a bunch of stuff about kicking the Florida Marlins while they’re already down.

Here’s hoping for a similarly misleading headline about the Reds picking on the Cubs this afternoon. Perhaps something about Edinson Volquez throwing a stein hoist in the bleachers.

  1. KC2HMZ says:

It appears the Marlins got tired of being kicked while they were down. They kicked back Friday night: Marlins 5, Cardinals 4 (F, 10). Reds castaway Ryan Franklin allowed both the tying run in the ninth and the losing run in the tenth. Reds castaway Felipe Lopez went 0-for-5 as the Cardinals leadoff man.

One thing about the Reds’ 4-3 win over the Cubs on Friday afternoon: Lou Piniella let starting pitcher Randy Wells bat for himself (and hit into a fielder’s choice) in the bottom of the seventh inning of a 1-1 game. Then Drew Stubbs promptly hit Wells’ second pitch of the eighth into the left field bleachers. If that had been Dusty instead of Lou, everybody in Chicago would be screaming long and loud, blaming the manager for the defeat. With Lou, not so much as a whimper – not that there’s much anyone in Chicago can say when the Cubs, who have the highest payroll in the league, are now 3-9 against the Reds this year.

    Go Reds!
