Did You Know Today’s Opening Day?

I couldn’t believe it, either. It’s amazing how things can sneak up on you when you hate some of the participants so much.

Oh, Joey Votto just missed a fowl ball into the stands because of the rolled up tarp. RHM commented, “Ryan Freel would’ve caught it, but then he wouldn’t play again until May.”

Enjoy the season, everyone. And get used to those 1-0 games.

Darnell “Old” McDonald just singled. I like how he almost twisted his ankle skidding to a stop after rounding first.

  2. Zeldink says:

Brandon Phillips is up with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Just think how intimidated the Mets would be if the Reds had a *real* clean-up hitter.

  3. Zeldink says:

And EdE swings away to end the rally. Go, go, Dusty-ball!

  4. Zeldink says:

RHM says it was a good hit, but I won’t be happy until everyone walks all the time.

  5. Zeldink says:

The Reds major free-agent acquisition Arthur Rhodes is in to pitch the top of the 7th. I don’t know why, but the theme song to Franklin is going through my head now. “Hey, it’s Arthur.”

  6. Zeldink says:

And Brandon Phillips grounds out to kill the hopes of tying. You know, I’m torn. On the one hand, I want Phillips and the Reds to do well. But on the other hand, Baker is such a bad manager that a 25-game losing streak to start the season might be the best thing for the organization.

Regardless, Phillips, along with much of the team, is set up to fail.

  7. Zeldink says:

And F-Rod is in to shut down the Reds in the 9th.

  8. Zeldink says:

And the fate of the Reds 2009 season lands onto the unsteady shoulders of someone I don’t even know.

  9. Zeldink says:

Ah, it was the catcher who struck out to end the game. I would’ve preferred going with Freel as the catcher, personally.

The Reds lose because the offense can muster only 1 run. The pitching was good, but the bats were as advertised. Dusty should be happy with the 9 strikeouts, though.

we left after the 3rd inning, to cold. went to buckhead mountain grill and had cheaper beer better food and much warmer place to sit and watch the game.
the way the catcher didn’t throw those two runners out made me miss paul bako

can i get arrested for bringing my 6 yr old granddaughter to the games to see dusty manage so poorly?
she thinks it was dusty’s fault adam dunn was traded away ,and doesn’t like him for that. i think shes off to a good start as a reds fan. one of our favorite sayings at gabp is “bus leaves for louisville in 15 minutes ” when a reds player screws up. we often end up quite hoarse after some games
