Trent reports Deno is being traded to Oakland.

And Fay says it’s not for Burton. And that there’s another move coming.

I don’t understand this trade at all, if it’s not for Burton.

  2. BubbaFan says:

Well, Fay says the deal was in the works in spring training. The deal collapsed when he was injured, but the A’s called two weeks ago and said they were still interested.

And Trent says Griffey’s chest pain is pleurisy, an inflammation of the lung lining. I guess that’s what was causing his chest pain yesterday. 🙁

    Milton sux

  4. Zeldink says:

    Milton does suck.

    Almost as much as Narron.

  5. Redsfan68 says:

Reds load the bases and milton swings at ball 4.

then he goes out and pitches a 1-2-3 2nd inning

I don’t suppose any of my readers out there are mortgage experts? My family ha about the weirdest situation you could imagine, and it’s causing me a low, grumbly rage that’s slowly eating away my insides.

Sort of like the Reds. Thanks for trading the Heartthrob, Kriv. Those Players to be Named Later ought to help out right away. And that cash should buy a lovely steak dinner.

  7. Red Hot Mama says:

Wow, no one’s out there, huh? The game *does* suck, I reckon.

  8. BubbaFan says:

I’m here. I’m having wireless issues, though, which is really annoying.

And I don’t know much about mortgages. Except avoid those ARMs like plague. I fear we’re heading toward a mortgage meltdown.

  9. Red Hot Mama says:

My irritations tonight are mounting. I need something to punch.

What do you think of the Deno trade, BF?

  10. BubbaFan says:

I thought the Deno trade was really bizarre at first, since he’s on the DL for the rest of the year. But if it started in spring training, it makes a little more sense.

It’s probably best for Deno that he’s being sent to a team that wants him so much. He’s a natural CFer. Just doesn’t have the power to be a corner OFer. If he stays with Cincinnati, he’ll be behind Hamilton, Freel, and Griffey. IOW, he won’t see the light of day.

The Reds may regret this, though, if half the rumors about Hamilton at “On the DL” are true.

  11. Red Hot Mama says:

I don’t think those are Hamilton. And if the are supposed to be Hamilton, I don’t think they can be true. He’s amazing, but I can’t believe he’d still be performing like he is if he’d fallen off the wagon.

I don’t feel bad for Deno. I agree that he’s likely to do much better elsewhere. I just don’t have high hopes for the PTBNLs. They must be pretty bad for it to take two of them plus cash to be equal to a guy who’s out for the season.

  12. Red Hot Mama says:

That’s it: I can’t take the aggravation anymore. I’m switching team affiliation. Which the least dysfunctional team in the majors?

  13. BubbaFan says:

Well, some of the comments over there were specifically about Hamilton. Even the people defending him were defending him by saying he’s sworn off drugs, but still drinks.

I’m a Yankee fan, I’m a little paranoid, since I saw the immensely talented Strawberry and Gooden throw away their careers for drugs and booze.

Agree about the PTBNLs. We’re getting two of them, AND cash, for a guy who’s just had Tommy John surgery. They may be very young guys with a lot of upside, though.
