Giveaway: 1975 World Series Collector’s Edition 7 DVD Set

1975 World Series Collector's Edition 7 DVD SetA&E and Major League Baseball has put together a seven-DVD collector's edition of the 1975 Big Red Machine World Series. I won't have time to review the set until this weekend, but just looking at the box, you can tell this is a beaut. Click the “More” link below to read all about this DVD set.

I am also pleased to announce that I have three promotional copies to give away for absolutely free. That's no small prize, my friend. The very, very cheapest you're going to get this thing for is $41, and that's before shipping.

  • I'll select the winners by random drawing.
  • To enter, post a Reds' or otherwise baseball-related haiku (seventeen-syllable verse form, arranged in three lines of five, seven and five syllables) in a comment on this entry.
  • Poems must be posted by 11:59 p.m. EDT Monday, June 19, 2006.
  • Since you have to register to post, I should be able to track you down from your username.
  • All are welcome to enter, so tell all your friends.

    I don’t need to win
    I rescued Tiny Casey
    Thanks Red Hot Mama

    ——————————-

    Krivsky gets Castro?
    What could be the rationale?
    He’s invincible

    ——————————-

    Wily Mo is gone
    But he’s fondly remembered
    As bait for Bronson

    ——————————-

    Bullpen is so bad
How bad is it? Must hope that
    Balfour can pitch in.

    ——————————-

    Cincinnati Reds
    Two thousand six champions
    Inevitable?

    ——————————-

    Milton grows a beard
    Really turns things around, while
    Marge rolls in her grave

    ——————————-

    Quin-Ton still with club
Can’t buy hit, made fielding flub
    To the minors, bub.

    ——————————-

    I don’t need to win
    Saved Casey, won those prizes
    But wouldn’t refuse.

    I watched “Bull Durham.”
Not as good as I recall.
    Kevin Costner . . . Yikes.

  7. riverotter says:

    Root until the end!

  11. KC2HMZ says:

Before I submit an entry, I gotta do my job here.

Hard Facts Staff comment on the promo material RHM quoted: The BoSox had two rookies of the year on their ’75 team, Fred Lynn (1975) and Carlton Fisk (1972). So did the Reds – Pete Rose (1963) and Johnny Bench (1968). The Reds also traded away a third Rookie of the Year (Tommy Helms, 1966) in 1971 along with Lee May and Jimmy Stewart to the Astros for Joe Morgan, Denis Menke, Jack Billingham, Cesar Geronimo, and Ed Armbrister in the trade that turned them from a marginal contender into the BRM.

OK, now to make this an official entry: In a twist of fate as odd as me (who actually watched the 1975 WS) winning one of those DVD sets, it’s Reds vs. Red Sox in the 2006 World Series, and:

    Boston fans will pout
    Pena makes the final out
    Bronson wins in rout

    John (HMZ)

  12. jbsh56 says:

    Bronson, Brandon, Dave,
    Krivsky moves mysterious,
    Each a coup, thank you

  13. momomo says:

    Female, twenty-three
    Never did live in Cincy
    Irrational love

  14. steveky3 says:

    Kearns has such big ears
the bullpen brings me to tears
    White Sox fans are queers

  15. PTjvs says:

    Would you guys believe
    I registered for this game
    after weeks lurking?

    Tonight I go back
    to watching games on tv
    time to beat the Mets!

  16. bucknutz says:

    In ’75,
    played Army in Germany.
    Missed World Series.

  17. chappy6655321 says:

    Daft defense dallies
    Badgered bullpen bandies balls
    Reds rule regardless

  18. RedLegs Fan says:

    In April said I
    The RedLegs are playoff bound
    How crazy was I

  19. HoosierRedLegs says:

    Griffey is the best
Sweetest swing in all the land
    Injuries be damned

    or

    I hope this year’s it
No pennant since I was three
    The wait’s killing me

  20. larkin11 says:

    A few to submit..

    The Cards are Toppled
The Cubs lose like they always do
    Yes, the Reds are champs!

    Tigers versus Reds
What a grand series it will be
Oh, who would have thought it?

    Doubt all you want to
But real Reds fans know the truth
    The Reds are back again

    Cards are holding strong
    Reds fighting to October
    But Cubbies still suck

    Always heard of past glory
    Film was my only witness
    ‘Till the Reds of new
