Chicago Cubs Get Early Start on Losing

Pitches and catchers reported today.

The Chicago Cubs beat all the other National League Central teams to the start of Spring Training by having pitchers and catchers report today.

The Pittsburgh Pirates start tomorrow, but I somehow doubt that the extra day or two will help either team all that much. Although I do expect the Pirates to win more than 57 games this year.

But this is the week it all begins. And in just two weeks, the Cincinnati Reds will play their first exhibition game against the Cleveland Indians.

Now Hiring: Chicago Cubs Dream Job

glduff said… As long as the new announcer understands the futility of working for the Cubs the job could lead to something better. Reagan was a Cubs play by play announcer in the 30’s but was smart enough to realize that he was more likely to become President and leader of the free world than to see the Cubs win a world series

What makes me sad is the number of Cubs fans who died without seeing their team win.

What makes me sadder is the number of Cubs fans who *would* die if they ever won. There must be 10,000 old folks out there who would just be like, “OK, I can die now,” and then actually do it.

i feel sorry for all the babies being born cub fans and not knowing the joy of a world series flag flying over wrigley field.

Are you born a Cubs fan, or is it a lifestyle choice?
