Daily Brief: Reds in first place

Last Game
The Reds beat the Braves 3-6. This time the hero was Devin Mesoraco, who his hit first career grand slam in the sixth inning.

Next Game
Tonight the Reds get to see someone new as the Colorado Rockies come to down. Johnny Cueto (5-1, 1.97 ERA) takes the mound against Christian Friedrich (1-1, 5.00 ERA).

Four-Game Sweep and Six-Game Streak
Just before the Reds started this winning streak, they were 19-19 and 2.5 games out of first. It took six straight wins to finally drag themselves ahead of the Cardinals, who have not exactly been traveling a hard road in their series against the Padres.

25-19 is the worst first place record for all the divisions in baseball, but the Reds can change that tonight.

What to Say to Sound Smart at the Water Cooler
The Reds haven’t won more than 5 games in a row since August 2010 when they won 7 in a row.
